Around 5:30 p.m., Monday, members of the Monroe fire and police departments responded to the on ramp from U.S. 74 to Skyway Drive in reference to an overturned tractor-trailer.
As of about 6 p.m., crews were working to investigate the wreck and clear the roadway.
"The driver was injured, but it does not appear to be life threatening," Monroe Fire Chief Ron Fowler said.
The driver was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Union after the wreck. The overturned tractor-trailer was carrying poultry feed for Pilgrim's Pride. It is estimated that the ramp will be closed about two hours while crews work to clear the roadway, he said.
Additional information and the name of the driver had not been released as of 6 p.m. Monday.
Updates about the story will be posted as they become available.
