Rev. Frank Barwig
Rev. Frank R. Barwig, Jr. was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. after a long battle with Acute Mylecetic Leukemia.
He was born July 8, 1936 in Charlotte, NC to the late Frank Rudolph Barwig, Sr. and Catherine Frances Shelby Barwig. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Robertson; brother, Charles Thomas Barwig; and sister, Mary Wood.
God called him to the ministry, where he served faithfully for 47 years in both North and South Carolina and only retired on December 31, 2013.
Rev. Barwig is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ila Mae Cox Barwig; daughter, Donna Barwig Robertson and husband, Earl; two grandsons, Matthew Robertson and fiancé, Suzanne Hill and Justin Robertson and wife, Samantha Ohmann Robertson; two great-grandsons, Christian and William Robertson; two sisters, Beverly Barwig Reasor of Kannapolis and Patty Barwig of Charlotte.
He is also survived by his wife's family, whom he loved and cherished as his own, Louis Cox and wife, Margie, Carson Cox and wife, Alice, Frances Taylor, Sarah Long and her late husband, Bob, and Betty Pope and husband, Jerry.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, 1106 W Sandy Ridge Road, Monroe, NC. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
