The Adoptables

Woody, a lovable shepherd mix, is a happy-go-lucky guy waiting for a family to play with.

He is about a year old, up-to-date on his shots and is not neutered yet, though that is included in the adoption fee.

He likes to romp and fetch. He knows some basic commands like sit, but will need practice with his new family.

He was surrendered by his old owner and has been at the shelter for about a week.

Coal, a happy and friendly Labrador mix, is still waiting at the shelter for his forever home.

There are currently no cats available for adoption. There are no guinea pigs or hamsters, either.

On Saturday, Feb. 9 there will be a rabies clinic from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Monroe Tractor Supply, 1010 West Roosevelt Boulevard in Monroe. Shots are $10 and only cash is accepted. Microchips are also available at the event.

The fee for adopting a dog or a cat is $85. The fee includes first shots, deworming, a heartworm check, rabies shots, spaying or neutering and a one time "well check" vet visit.

The shelter is on 3340 Presson Road in Monroe. The phone number is 704-283-8303. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
