Sunny, named for his orange color and cheerful disposition, is soft, cuddly and ready for you to take him home.

This male domestic short-haired kitten is up-to-date on his shots and waiting at the Union County Animal Shelter.

He is very sweet, friendly and mostly quiet except for his loud purr when you scratch his chin, which is his favorite.

Jojo, a wonderful black-and-white adult cat is still waiting for a family. He even put his tuxedo on.

The world is new and exciting to puppies and Duke is no exception.

This shepherd mix is eager to jump, play and snuggle with you. Like all puppies, he likes to explore and chew and will need toys to gnaw on and keep him occupied.

He is up-to-date on his shots and was found as a stray.

Sami, a fun and energetic Beagle mix is still waiting at the shelter for a family.

The fee for adopting a dog or a cat is $85. The fee includes first shots, deworming, a heartworm check, rabies shots, spaying or neutering and a one time “well check” vet visit.

The shelter is on 3340 Presson Road in Monroe. The phone number is 704-283-8303. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
