The Adoptables

Coal is a little skittish at first, but as soon as he warms up to someone he is sweet and playful.

He is quite striking with his black coat and white chest.

The adult Labrador mix is waiting for a family at the Union County Animal Shelter. He was originally picked up as a stray. He is up-to-date on his shots and has been at the shelter for about a week.

Coal is good with other dogs and very curious about them. He enjoys a good romp and will do well with a lot of space. He can walk on a leash fairly well, but will need practice.

Trooper, a bouncy Terrier mix is still waiting at the shelter for a new family. He is very sweet and very full of energy. He will do best with an active family and a backyard.

There are currently no cats available for adoption.

The fee for adopting a dog or a cat is $85. The fee includes first shots, deworming, a heartworm check, rabies shots, spaying or neutering and a one time "well check" vet visit.

The shelter is on 3340 Presson Road in Monroe. The phone number is 704-283-8303. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
