Bill Reule, Sr. - Post Chaplain

Bill Reule, Sr., was born in Jamestown, North Dakota, October 28, 1940. While at East Carolina, he enlisted in the United States Navy in January, 1958. After boot camp he was assigned to the Navy Weapons Depot & Naval Gun Factory, Washington, D.C. Then to Norfolk, then to Little Creek, Virginia. Bill’s Sea Duty assignments included (1) CB Amphibious, aboard the USS LST-1154 Tallahatchie-LST, (2) USS Donner LSD-20, (3) USS York County LST-1175, USS Sanmarcos LSD-25, USS Grant County LST 1174.

In 1963, his rank, Boatswain’s Mate Seaman. His time in service covered the Cold War, Cuban Missile Crisis, Bay of Pigs, and the Vietnam Era.

One of the highlights of his service was Operation Inland Seas. His outfit sailed the North Atlantic and entered via Canada and into the Great Lakes through the St. Lawrence Seaway. This passage gave us the rank of Fresh Water Man-of-War’s Man. Being in the Navy and being part of the CB Amphibious Force they carried two sea bags, one for a Sailor and one to be a Marine.

Awarded a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Overseas Commemorative, US Navy Commemorative, Special Operations Commemorative. As will all service personnel, he received the Cold War Certificate from the Secretary of Defense. However, if the military member wants the Medal, it costs $25.95.

Bill and his lovely wife, Faye, were married in 1958. The couple has two adult sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and six wonderful grandchildren, who Bill and Faye spoil.

Bill formed his company, the William H. Reule & Associates Real Estate and Consulting.

 Bill wants his American Legion fellow members to know that they can call on him whenever needed.
