Drug court gives families a second chance
Stephanie Love used crack for more than 20 years before losing custody of her 6-year-old son.

“I was willing to do anything to help me stay clean and get my little boy back,” said Love, an Indian Trail resident.
Rarely lauded, magistrates honored with ceremony
“Most people have no idea where to start in the criminal process.”

Trudy Eudy, one of eight magistrates for Union County, said the best part of her job is getting the ball rolling — helping those unfamiliar with the judicial system understand what's happening. Yet most people don't know what magistrates do, she said, adding that she didn't have a clue until she became one 12 years ago.
