County investigates Dunkin' Donuts

The Union County Department of Human Services Division of Public Health has initiated an investigation concerning gastrointestinal illnesses which have been associated with the Dunkin Donuts located at 2570 W. Roosevelt in Monroe. The dates of onset of illness range from February 10th to the present.

Union County is working closely with the State Division of Public Health throughout this investigation. Currently, tests are being conducted by the State Laboratory of Public Health, and the specific microorganism has yet to be identified.

Thus far, a total of 12 persons have been identified as having symptoms in employees or their household members. The most common symptoms reported are diarrhea, abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite.  The symptomatic employees have been excluded from work until they are asymptomatic for 24 hours.

Persons who became ill with gastrointestinal illness after visiting and/or consuming food or drink from the Dunkin Donuts in Monroe since January 31st, or ill close contacts of employees, should contact their medical provider and Union County Division of Public Health (704-296-4813).
