While they work to help those in need in Union County, Crisis Assistance Ministry is planning new programs to raise funds and awareness this year.

"(Harris Teeter) was approached by two private equity firms who expressed an interest in purchasing (Harris Teeter)," the statement read.

Gander Mountain will open its third firearms super center in the nation and seventh store in North Carolina in Monroe in late April.

Monroe may soon have a Gander Mountain store.

The Park Sterling Bank at 2742 W. Roosevelt Boulevard in Monroe will hold its grand opening celebration Feb. 11.
