Rushing wins runoff
Stony Rushing defeated Tracy Kuehler in Tuesday's run-off primary election.
Based on the unofficial results, Rushing received 2,748 votes or 59.16 percent and Kuehler received 1,897 votes, 40.84 percent.
Rushing won the third available seat on the Union County Board of County Commissioners. As there is no opponent in the November election, he is the presumptive commissioner.
According to the unofficial results, 4,651 ballots were cast.
After the first primary, Jerry Simpson and Lance Simpson were elected. The margin between Kuehler and Rushing was close enough to request a run-off, which Kuehler requested.
"Thank you to all who volunteered, who donated, and who voted! I am blessed to have met every one of you!" Kuehler wrote on her Facebook page Tuesday night.
