The Indian Trail mayor Michael Alvarez has admitted he lied when he claimed a Union County Sheriff’s deputy verbally threatened him in February.

Medical examiners confirmed the body found outside 3425 Lanesboro Road was that of Robby Charles Blount, 25, of 2701 Mason St. in Monroe.

A man was shot dead after a foiled burglary early Thursday, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

The Union County Board of Commissioners kept school funding at levels proposed in the draft budget and added requirements that the money be spent on certain projects.

Monroe City Council passed most of the proposed budget Tuesday night.
