Locke Foundation: UCPS gets results at low cost

Union County Public Schools had the highest academic achievement with the lowest per-pupil expense, according to the report. The system received a 1 for basic return on investment, an 86 on the achievement index and had a per-pupil expenditure of $7,511. With return on the investment the lower the score, the higher the achievement. A school that received a 1 had the highest productivity levels with the lowest spending. UCPS was among 13 schools in the state to receive a 1.

The Union County Board of Commissioners approved an economic development grant for an amount not to exceed $340,000 over a 5-year period to what could become the county's first pharmaceutical company.
