Every day, 315 Union County Public Schools yellow buses travel more than 30,000 miles, carrying approximately 24,000 children to school and then safely home again in the afternoon.
Due to the precipitation that fell last night, many roads in our county remain wet and there is a potential for refreezing tonight. As a result, Union County Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for students and staff on Friday, Feb. 27. All schools will open and buses will run two hours later than the normal time.
Mark Williams, a bus driver with Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, said he has to jot down the make, model and license plate of a car if it passes as the school bus is stopped and he has the stop arm extended.
The Union County Board of Commissioners received an update on roofing projects from Union County Public Schools.
Marce Savage resigned from the school board earlier this month. She represented District 6 and had been re-elected in November.
