Vehicle flips in Sunday wreck
Monroe police responded to a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of U.S. 74 and Morgan Mill Road Sunday afternoon.
During the wreck, an SUV flipped over onto its roof.
According to a Monroe Police Department report, a 2006 Chevrolet driven by Brent Montrell Little, 26, of 505 Lodge Street, Wadesboro, was traveling east on US 74 while a 2000 Ford driven by Willette Funderburk Hough, 62, of 4605 Waxhaw Highway, Monroe, was traveling south on Morgan Mill Road. The two vehicles collided in the intersection and Hough's vehicle rolled onto its roof after the impact.
Little told officers that he was traveling east on U.S. 74 towards Morgan Mill Road and was entering the intersection when he noticed Hough's Ford traveling south in the intersection on Morgan Mill Road. He also told officers that he applied his brakes but was not able to stop in time and his vehicle collided with Hough's and that his light was green at the time of the collision. Hough was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte but spoke with an officer prior to leaving. She told the officer that she was traveling south on Morgan Mill Road when Little's vehicle ran the stoplight and hit her, according to the report.
As of Monday afternoon, the wreck was still under investigation.
