Fire guts apartments, 19 left homeless

Monroe firefighters responded to a working structure fire shortly after 11:00 Thursday night. No occupants were injured but four families, consisting of nineteen people were left homeless by the fire. The American Red Cross responded to the scene to assess the family's temporary housing needs. Firefighters, investigators and Red Cross personnel are still on the scene as of this report. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The Enquirer Journal will update this story as details become available.
