Randy Travis hospitalized
According to a statement on Randy Travis’ website, the country singer has been admitted to a Texas hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The well-known country singer is from Marshville and has family who still live in the area.
Travis is said to be suffering from complications of a recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy and was admitted to the medical facility yesterday according to the statement on the website.
According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute website, cardiomyopathy refers to diseases of the heart muscle. As the diseases worsen, the heart becomes weaker and is less able to pump blood through the body and maintain a normal electrical rhythm. This can lead to heart failure or irregular heartbeats called arrhythmias.
Harold B. Traywick, Travis’ father, said Tuesday afternoon that he doesn’t know a lot about the situation or his son’s current condition and chose not to comment.
According to www.randytravis.com, the country singer has been in the business about 25 years. He has won seven Grammy Awards, 10 Academy of Country Music statuettes, 10 American Music Awards, two People’s Choice awards, seven Music City News awards, eight Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association and five Country Music Association honors.
