Teen faces sex assault charges
A Piedmont High School senior remained in jail Wednesday morning after being arrested Monday in connection with sex charges involving two children under the age of 10.
Aaron Clayton Honeycutt, 17, of 1516 Mill Creek Church Road in Unionville has been charged with one count of first-degree rape, four counts of indecent liberties with a child, one count of sex offense with child first degree and one count of crimes against nature, according to Union County Jail staff.
Officers responded to a 911 call Saturday where they were informed by the mother of the children involved about the allegations, Detective Sgt. Kevin James of the Union County Sheriff's Office said.
The mother had been told by the children about incidents involving Honeycutt and after an investigation, he was arrested Monday, he said.
He chose not to comment on how Honeycutt knew the two children involved or how long the abuse had occurred.
On Wednesday Honeycutt was under a $250,000 bond at the Union County Jail and had a Feb. 18 court date.
