Man arrested for string of break-ins
The Union County Sheriff’s Office has charged Johnny Ray Deese, Jr., 26, of Marshville in connection with multiple break-ins from September to December of last year.
Deese was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with breaking into two churches in rural Union County.
Monroe police detectives assisted with the interview of Deese and were able to charge him with an additional residential break-in inside the city limits of Monroe, according to a statement from the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
On Dec. 10, 2012, Sheriff’s Detectives alleged that Deese broke into Fairfield Baptist Church and Piney Grove Baptist Church, which are both in unincorporated Marshville. In all but one of the incidents, Deese is also charged with larceny after breaking and entering. Victims reported primarily electronics and jewelry were taken in the crimes. Detectives have recovered some of the stolen property at this point and the investigation remains open, according to the statement.
In all, Deese has been charged with two counts of breaking and enter place of worship, five counts of felony breaking and entering, and six counts of larceny after breaking and entering, according to the statement.
Deese has a court date of March 5 and was under a $10,000 secured bond at the Union County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon.
