Chocoholic Frolic returns to raise literacy funds
Chocoholic Frolic, which raises money for the Literacy Council of Union County, will return Thursday, Feb. 7.
This is the second year the event has been held.
It will run from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Crossroads Ford on Highway 74 in Indian Trail.
Approximately 20 restaurants, caterers, private chefs, bakers and specialty merchants will offer guests small samplings of chocolate items, according to the Literacy Council of Union County website.
"Everything has to have chocolate as an ingredient," Kelly Norton, the executive director of the Literacy Council of Union County, said in reference to rules for vendors participating in the event.
There does not have to be a lot of chocolate used in what the vendors offer as long as part of it has chocolate included in it. Money raised by the event will go toward operating costs and the costs of materials the Literacy Council uses. Their goal is for the event to bring in $10,000 this year, Norton said.
In addition to food, the Chocoholic Frolic will also feature live music, raffles and a take-home program that includes vendor and sampling descriptions, according to the Literacy Council website.
Tickets for the Chocoholic Frolic are $25 each. For more information or to order tickets online visit www.literacyunion.org or call 704-226-1425.
