Parkwood teacher, coach arrested for soliciting juvenile
Monroe police arrested Raymond Douglas Nixon Friday in connection with solicitation of a child.
The investigation into Nixon, 31, of 1410 Stafford Street Extension, Monroe, began on Dec. 28, 2012.
At the time the investigation started, Nixon worked as a staff member for the Union County Department of Social Services, was a part-time employee of a local group home, a teacher at Parkwood Middle School and a coach for both Parkwood Middle and Union Academy. The investigation into him focused on him inappropriately texting a juvenile at the group home, according to a statement from the Monroe Police Department.
The investigation into the text messages continued the past couple of months and Nixon was arrested Friday, Monroe Police Chief Debra Duncan, said.
Nixon has been charged with solicitation of a child by computer or certain other electronic devices to commit an unlawful sex act. He has since been released from jail on a $5,000 unsecured bond. He has a March 20 court date, according to the Monroe Police Department statement.
