Parkwood teen hospitalized after collision with truck
Paul Glaser, a 16-year-old student at Parkwood High School, was struck by a dump truck Tuesday morning. He was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center-Main.
Glaser, a junior, was driving a white 2003 Mitsubishi Galant eastbound on Lathan Road around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday Trooper John Burgin said he had left his home and was driving to pick up a friend on the way to school.
Glaser stopped at a stop sign then pulled out in front of a dump truck, driven by Kenneth Morris, traveling south on Rte. 522, Rocky River Road, Burgin said.
Glaser, who received his driver’s license in August, underwent surgery at CMC-Main. His status was not known as of Tuesday afternoon.
Union County Public Schools Spokesperson Rob Jackson wrote in an email that their thoughts are prayers are with the student and the student’s family.
Charges are pending, pending the outcome of Glaser’s operation, Burgin said.
