Man faces child sex charges
A Mineral Springs man is charged with indecent liberties with a child and second degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Chad Landon Blume, 31, of 7008 Knotty Pine Road was arrested March 7, Union County Sheriff's Office Capt. Ronnie Whitaker said.
"Some photographs were discovered that led to an investigation," Whitaker said. "Through the investigation, a victim was identified."
Blume owned Waxhaw-based construction business Around The House Repair.
Blume also volunteered with the Waxhaw Flyers All-Star Cheerleaders last spring, according to a statement by gym co-owners Rori Burke and Krisitna McDaniel.
"The Waxhaw Flyers gym opened in May, 2012. Since that time, many parents and friends have supported us and helped with fundraisers and other minor tasks," Burke and McDaniel stated.
"Chad Blume was a member of the Waxhaw community and was known by many. He was a friend of ours as well as many other families in Waxhaw. Chad Blume did volunteer, as many other friends and family did, with the start up of the business. He has no official affiliation or business relationship with the Waxhaw Flyers.
"If it is your intention to come to our place of business, please respect and mindful of our cheerleaders. Your presence may draw unnecessary concerns," Burke and McDaniel stated.
Blume was being held in Union County Jail under $100,000 bond, but was transfered to Mecklenburg for safekeeping.
"He was moved there because the victim has a connection with a sheriff's office employee," Whitaker said.
So far, only one victim has been found but deputies continue to investigate thoroughly. Blume was an acquaintance of the victim, Whitacre said.
Blume's court date is April 16.
