CMPD officer charged with domestic violence
The Union County Sheriff's Office arrested Michael Ray Snider, an officer with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, on Aug. 28 after a report of a domestic disturbance at his home.
Officers responded to Snider's residence on Pawnee Trail in Indian Trail around 9:30 p.m.
"It was reported that he had thrown his wife to the ground," Captain Ronnie Whitaker of the Union County Sheriff's Office said.
After officers arrived, they conducted an investigation and as a result of that investigation as well as what they saw when they arrived and witness statements, Snider was arrested, he said.
Whitaker was not certain of the condition of Snider's wife after the incident but said she was not transported to the hospital.
Snider was charged with assault on a female and was given a $2,500 bond. He has an Oct. 28 court date.
As of Friday morning, Snider had bonded himself out of the Union County Jail, Whitaker said.
Attempts to contact the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for more information about Snider were unsuccessful as of press time.
