Weddington Mayor Bill Deter and Wesley Chapel VFD President Charles Rohland signed the final fire service agreement contract Monday. The town has agreed to pay Wesley Chapel VFD $58,288 per month, or $699,456 annually. The agreement goes into effect July 29 the same day Weddington has requested Providence Volunteer Fire Department vacate its Hemby Road station.

This week, National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced this year’s National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners. The 2,500 Merit Scholar designees were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding finalists in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.
