Lloyd Wilson Simpson passed away on March 9th, 2014. His service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 13, 2014 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, New Salem, N.C.
with the Rev. John Miller officiating with burial in the church cemetery. The family
will receive friends at the church from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Evelyn Stewart Simpson.
He is survived by all three children, Brenda Hefner (Mike, deceased), Donald Wilson Simpson (Jackie), and Susan Simpson Wandler (Les). Also five grandchildren, Coleman, Jonathan and Noah Simpson; Kristina A. Hefner; Andrew V. Wandler and one great-grandchild Jasper Griffin Simpson.
Lloyd Simpson (1924) was a farmer, born of farmers. His Scots-Irish kin and ancestors
have lived in the New Salem, Union County, community since 1761. He was a WWII
Veteran. Nephew to 14 aunts and uncles. Baby brother to four siblings. A lover of the
land. A producer, a giver, a friend. A farmer of substance who loved to walk his fields
and touch his crops and let the earth run through his fingers. He was much loved and
will be genuinely missed.
