Mrs. Beverly Dotterer Bryant, 77, formerly of Hanahan, SC, went to live with Jesus on March 27, 2013.
She was born December 19, 1935 in Charleston, SC, the oldest child of James Brinson Dotterer and Frances Arms Dotterer Buist.
After graduating from Charleston Day School, Sherrie enrolled in the University of Miami for a year before meeting her husband, Jim Bryant. Jim and Sherrie were married 57 years and enjoyed many years at Edisto Island until Alzheimer’s robbed her of her memory.
She was an accomplished swimmer, pianist, painter, seamstress, gardener, cook, and a wonderful mother. She returned to her formal education in her 40s and graduated from the College of Charleston as an accountant.
Sherrie was a devoted Christian who taught Sunday school at Highland Park Baptist Church where she was active in Baptist Women Union and was chair of the Finance Committee. When she was not involved in her church, you would find her in her flower garden or reading a great book.
In addition to her parents, Sherrie is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Bryant, son, Jimmy, and daughter, Caroline. Surviving are her daughters, Dr. Jane Neese (Ken) of Monroe, NC and Barbara Bryant Herrera (Maribel) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Thomas and Annie Neese and Sienna Bryant Herrera; brother, John Brinson Dotterer, Jr. (Rebecca) of Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law, Nell Hines (Ed) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Virginia McNeil (Dan) of Florence, SC, Jane Moore (Charles) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Jerry Holladay (Jimmy) of Sumter, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Sherrie’s extraordinary life will be on April 1 at 2PM on her beloved dock on Edisto Island, SC. The family greatly appreciates the loving care by the staffs at Clare Bridge Memory Care and Levine Dickson Hospice House at Southminister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204 or Central United Methodist Church, 801 South Hayne Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
