Deaths for Jan. 11, 2013
James Otto Austin, 78, of Mooresville passed away on January 7, 2013 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
He was born on April 8, 1934 in Union County, N.C. to Clyde Charles and Ruby Mae Hinson Austin. James was a member of Wiggins Road Baptist Church of Mooresville and served as a deacon, head usher, served on the church hospitality committee, and along with his wife chaired the Senior’s Group, “The Golden Heirs”. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and attended Kings Business College in Concord and worked at Harris Teeter and General Times.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Donnie Austin.
He is survived by his wife, June Suther Austin; children, Kellie A. Rounds and husband, Theodore, of Montrose, Pa. and James O. “Sonny” Austin, Jr. and wife, Sheila, of Lincolnton; sisters, Helen Helms and husband, Clinton, of Locust, N.C., Carol Davis of Anderson, S.C., Elaine Boswell and husband, Jerry, of Monroe, N.C. and brother, Mike Austin and wife, Vivian.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Wiggins Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Abee and the Rev. Dale Gallimore officiating. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wiggins Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 188 Wiggins Road, Mooresville, NC 28115.

Shirley Jane Brooks, 76, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 at Dulin’s Grove Advent Christian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Noemi Cabral, 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 6525 Old Monroe Rd., Indian Trail. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Janet Faison, 88, of Matthews died Jan. 9, 2013, in the company of her beloved son.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 11, at Heritage Funeral Home, 4431 Old Monroe Road, Indian Trail. A graveside service will be held at 11 a .m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
Aaron Kenneth “Kenny” Fowler, Jr., 51, of Lancaster, S. C., formerly of Midland, died Tuesday, Jan, 8, 2013 in Lancaster, S.C.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2013, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Wilson Grove Baptist Church, 6624 Wilgrove Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3901 Lawyers Road in Charlotte. At other times, the family will meet at 10375 Jim Sossoman Road, Midland.

Mr. Jimmy Lee Moore of Clemmons, died Monday, January 7, 2013 following a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born in Iredell County to the late John and Clara Foutz Moore on December 24, 1935. Mr. Moore was a graduate of Pfeiffer University and had served in the U.S. Army Reserves and had retired as an auditor with the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Jim enjoyed exercising and playing golf. He had served as a volunteer at the Samaritan Soup Kitchen, Crisis Control, the Walkertown Lutheran Home and Meals on Wheels. Jim was devoted to his family and we will miss him very much.
He is survived by his wife June Hinson Moore; a daughter, Sherye Hall (Jeff), and granddaughters, Allison Paige and Kelly Kristin Hall of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are a sister, Pat Ramseur and nephew, Donny Ramseur of Concord.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany in Winston-Salem with Pastor E. Ray Mohrmann officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private committal will be held at Forsyth Memorial Park.

Mrs. Martha H. Mullis, 76, passed away on Wednesday the 9th of January, 2013 at Hospice House of Union County. She was the daughter of the late Charles Odell and Pansy Ginn Henson.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday the 12th of January, 2013 at Hamilton Crossroads Baptist Church. Visitation will be 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband Mr. Leonard E. Mullis of Marshville; one son, Mr. Terry E. Mullis and his fiancé, Nancy, of Sevierville, Tenn.; one daughter; Mrs. Sherry M. Casey and her husband, Kevin, of Marshville.
