Ms. Susan Gail Thomas Helms, age 52, departed this life on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital — Matthews, North Carolina.
Funeral Services to Celebrate the Life of Susan Gail Thomas Helms will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday (February 1, 2013) at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street Monroe, NC 28112. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gail was born on October 2, 1960, in Monroe, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Billy Parks Thomas and Doris Nell McManus. She was a homemaker and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her best.
Gail is survived by her loving husband, Randy Lee of the home, her step-mother, Janey Driggers and husband Jimmy of Chesterfield, SC; brothers Steve Thomas of Jefferson, SC, Robin Thomas and wife Selena of Marshville, NC, Dean Thomas of Wingate, NC; sisters Patty Starnes and husband Joey of Pageland, SC, and Amy Thomas of Chesterfield, SC; her loving daughters, Ashley Cox of Monroe, NC, Brandy Helms Lowery and husband Jason of Marshville, NC, Christy Price and husband Michael of Monroe, NC, and Brooke Thomas of Liverpool, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Gail was predeceased by two brothers, Jeff Thomas and Nicholas Paul Thomas.
Visitation for friends and family will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (January 31, 2013) at Davis Funeral Home

Mrs. Catherine M. “Kathy” Rodgers, age 59 passed away Thursday January 31, 2013 at her home.
She was born August 21, 1953 in Richmond County, NC, the daughter of the late Mr. Clayton Stanfield Moree and the late Mrs. Jewel Elizabeth Watkins Moree. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband: Jerry Albert Rodgers.
Mrs. Rodgers is survived by two daughters: Cindy Willoughby of Charlotte, NC and Karyn Aldridge and husband Robbie of Monroe, NC; two sons: Spencer Rodgers and wife Erica of Monroe, NC and Jeffrey Rodgers of Monroe, NC; one brother: Stan Moree and wife Terri of Rockingham, NC; five grandchildren: Spencer Rodgers II, Megan Rodgers and Lindsay Smith, Kacie Aldridge and William Aldridge.
The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation Friday February 1, 2013 from 7:00 Pm until 9:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Rodgers will be 2:00 PM Saturday February 2, 2013 in the Mineral Springs United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Talbot Davis, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Donald Monroe Rollins, 73 died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at CMC-Mercy in Charlotte.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Peachland Gospel Tabernacle with burial to follow in the Peachland City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 pm at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lugene P. Rowell, 85 died Thursday January 31, 2013 in the Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe.

Mrs. Rena Broome Smith, age 91, met her Lord and Savior Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at CMC-Union in Monroe, NC.
Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday (February 3, 2013) at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 1003 East Franklin St., Monroe, North Carolina 28112. The family will greet friends after the service.
Rena was born on March 14,1921, in Kershaw, SC, the daughter of the late Rev. Broadus Broome and Margaret Seegars Broome. Rena, a longtime member of garden clubs, shared her flower arranging talents in competitions. She was an accomplished artist with water color and china painting. Rena enjoyed fishing, boating, and traveling. Her most treasured trip was to The Holy Land. Above all, Rena loved her family and devoted her life to church work, seeking to do God's Will.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband Oscar 'Sonny' Smith; her brothers, Donnie, Charles, Edgar, Luther, and Alvin Broome; sisters Iva Mae Burns, Ethel Pope, and Carole Ann Brooks.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Burgess of Waxhaw, NC; children, Harriet Smith Prince (Gene) of Charlotte, NC, Lanny Smith (Vicki) of Holden Beach, NC, Gloria Smith Schwartz (Jerry) of Matthews, NC, and Steve Smith (Gwen) of Divide, Colorado; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Archable Raphael “Ray” Williams, 75, of Cabarrus County, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center – NorthEast in Concord.
