Helen Hardy
Helen Grier Hardy, 89, died Saturday, February, 2, 2013 at Carolina Medical Center in Waxhaw.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home – Indian Trail Chapel. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
 The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the funeral home.

Clara McDonald
Clara Howie Smith McDonald, 96, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013.  She was born in Union County, NC on November 3, 1916 daughter of the late Baxter Fulton and Leona Helms Howie.  Mrs. McDonald was a retired city of Monroe employee.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 3:00 PM in Mineral Springs United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:45 PM.  Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Patterson Smith and her second husband, Mark Leon McDonald.  She is survived by sons, Thomas P. Smith of Monroe, Michael H. Smith of Mineral Springs, brother, Bill F. Howie of Mineral Springs, sister, Eleanor Howie Little of Wingate, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Walter Perry
Walter “Walt” Perry, 87, of Wingate, died early Tuesday morning, February 5, 2013, at Hospice of Union County in Monroe.

Richard Clark Presley
Richard Clark Pressley, 65, passed away January 28, 2013.  He lived and worked in Florida after leaving North Carolina as an area manager in the wholesale fixture business. He retired in the Fort Walton Beach area that he loved so much.
A son of the late Horace Durant and Ruth Lee Wooten Pressley, he was born February 10, 1947 in Monroe, North Carolina.  An outdoor and sports enthusiast, he loved boating, being on the water, golfing, and he enjoyed all sports, whether he was participating or just watching. Richard served in the army during the Vietnam era and was a true patriot to this country.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Kate) A. Pressley; son and daughter-in-law, Kasey and Tori Pressley; grandson, Kaseman Pressley; sisters, Pat Deason and Shirley Thomas; brother, Johnny Pressley; numerous nieces and nephews and step children.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Karen Pressley, and a sister, Donna Simpson.
In lieu of flowers send donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Ruth Trull
Ruth Bryant Trull, 92, died Monday, February 4, 2013.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 8, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.  The family will visit with friends and relatives prior to the service from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m..
