Ruth had a voracious appetite for life. She loved the “beautiful earth God has given us”. She was a woman who celebrated the arrival of spring, when she could be found working in her vegetable and flower gardens and fishing on the bank of the pond. She loved swimming in the ocean and her children and grandchildren will always remember jumping the waves for hours on hot, summer days with her!
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Shirlie Jones (Otis) of Charlotte, Bonnie (Jimmy) Helms of Marshville; son, Ed (Nancy) Threatt of Indian Trail; brother, Heath Rorie of Pageland; sister, Vera Martin of Monroe; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John B. Rorie, Sr. and Gertrude Melton Rorie; her husband, Miner E. Threatt Sr.; daughter, Johnnie Hendrix; brothers, Ralph Rorie, John B. Rorie, Jr. and Harold Rorie; and sister, Willie Rorie Threatt.
The family wishes to thank the Drs. Michael Camp and Gina Morrill and the staff members of Monroe Hospice House and Springhill Assisted Living Staff in Pageland for the excellent care they provided for Ruth. Special thanks to her devoted sister-in-law, Beulah Rorie.
Memorials may be made to Beulah Presbyterian Church, % Milton Griffin, PO Box 32, Pageland, SC 29728.
