Mr. Scott Boeving, 66, of Wingate died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Hospice House in Monroe.

Mr. Wilbur E. Downing, age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Sanford, Maine, while visiting relatives for the holidays.
Mr. Downing was born on August 24, 1921 in Wells, Maine, a son of the late Mr. Edgar L. Downing and the late Mrs. Hazel Hobson Downing Wolf.
Mr. Downing spent his early years there before joining the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He served in the Panama Canal Zone as a fighter pilot. It was there that he met his future wife, Grace Coan from Monroe, North Carolina, while she was working for the Civil Service.
Mr. Downing was a graduate of UMass@Amherst with a BS degree in mechanical engineering. He later retired from Bird Machinery Company in Walpole, Mass. And he and Grace moved to Southern Pines, North Carolina in 1983.
Mr. Downing was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Grace Coan Downing on November 19, 2008 and was also preceded in death by (two) brothers, Merrill Hobson and William West.
Mr. Downing is now survived by a number of caring nieces and nephews and many friends.
Graveside funeral services with full military honors to celebrate the life of Mr. Downing will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday (January 5, 2013), conducted by the Rev. Marilyn Wooten, at the Lakeland Memorial Park’s Mausoleum Chapel in Monroe, North Carolina.
Also, a memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Downing will be held on Friday (January 11, 2013) at 2:00 P.M. in the Pinehurst United Methodist Church in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina 28215-3220.

Joie Rice Edwards
Joie Rice Edwards, 68 of Stallings passed away at home on January 2, 2013. Memorial services celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Indian Trail Presbyterian Church. Her family will receive friends for the hour preceding the service, beginning at 10 a.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Ralph Edwards at Amity Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Edwards was born September 15, 1944 in Mecklenburg County to Pauline Rice Scott and the late Joe Lee Rice. Before retirement she worked as a Dental Assistant. She loved crafts and cooking for her family and she will be remembered as a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was an active member and Elder at her church.
Her survivors in addition to her mother include her daughter, Angela Robusto and husband Brian of Mint Hill; step-sons, Jon Edwards and wife Suzanne, Todd Edwards and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Nicholas and Joseph Robusto, Kendall and Jackson Edwards, and Clayton Edwards; sisters, Sandra Rice Troutman, Jan and John Penick; and her nephew David Ivey.

Marion Ralph Funderburk, 71, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013. He was born October 5, 1941 in Lancaster, SC, son of the late Ralph Claude and Eula Mae Funderburk.
Marion was a quiet Southern gentleman; a man of gentle spirit, and wisdom that won him a treasure of friends. He was a bass fisherman, a dirt tracker, and loved his role with the Nationwide Series. (Thanks, J. Robinson Racing) and the crew who were truly his brothers. He took great pride in all his work and arts. He loved his family. He adored his blessed wife and leaves us all better people by sharing with us his life.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Siler Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 12:00 – 1:45 PM prior to the service.
Mr. Funderburk is survived by his wife, Debra McGuirt Funderburk; sons, David Marion Funderburk (Tammy) and Michael T. Funderburk (Debra), both of Lancaster, SC; daughter, Leslie Funderburk Wooten (Michael) of Camden, SC; brother, Glenn Thomas Funderburk of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Holly, Dustee, Michael, Rod, Matthew, Mandi, Bailey and Callie; eleven great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Hazel Mangum and the late R.B. Mangum; father-in-law, Phillip McGuirt; sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lee (Iris) Whiteside; nephew and godson, Trey Whiteside; brother-in-law, Rodney McGuirt and godchildren, Kyle, Catlin and Corey Keels.

Mrs. Tina L. Griep, of Albemarle passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at her residence.
She was born November 20, 1939 in Concord, North Carolina the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Wall. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Sue Overcash and Alice Benton.
Mrs. Griep was employed by Registry Hotel as an accountant for many years. Tina loved to let her creative side show throughout her life and had a passion for cooking that led to owning a restaurant, Tina’s Gourmet Shoppe in Charlotte. She enjoyed painting, sewing, dancing and cherished spending time in the company of her family and close friends.
Surviving are her loving husband, John Griep; children, Greg Rutledge, Jody Jordan and husband Paul, Brad Griep and wife Kim, Kristi Pinkston, and Gwen Dewaele; grandchildren, Tasha Rutledge, April Rutledge, Tina Jordan, Mallery Saverino, Nikki Griep, Karlee Griep, Kyle Griep, Kallie Griep, Kassidy Griep, John Pinkston, Mark Pinkston, and Paige Dewaele; great grandchildren, Chase Saverino, Kolbie Griep, Daniel Gast, Blake Gast and Scotty Pasour; siblings, Johnny Wall and wife Jeri and Jo Ann Lambert; and canine companion, Little Girl.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 6, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Community Home Care and Hospice, nurse, Cathy Patterson and friends Alex and Sabrina for their tremendous and wonderful care of Tina.

The Rev. Bobby Hardin
The Rev. Bobby Edward Hardin, 62, passed away January 2, 2013. He was born in Cherokee County, SC on January 21, 1950, son of Marjorie Campbell Clark and the late G. N. Hardin. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Hardin.
Rev. Hardin was a U. S. Army veteran and a retired Baptist minister.
A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM in Covenant Baptist Church, 165 Craig Manor Rd., Lancaster, SC, led by Dr. Bert Welch. A visitation reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be Saturday, at 3:30 PM in Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC
In addition to his mother, Rev. Hardin is survived by his wife of 41 years, Edythe Bradford Hardin; son, Rodney Neal Hardin and wife Tami of Stallings, NC; daughter, Stephanie Hardin Williams and husband Galen of Monroe; brothers, Steve Hardin of Concord and Timothy Hardin of Columbia; sister, Jane Hardin Rinehart of York, SC; and grandsons, Frazier and Turner Williams.

Mr. Clayton Price, 63, went home to be with his Lord and savior on January 2, 2013 from Hospice of Union County. Clayton was born July 18, 1949 in Union County N.C., son of the late Ney Clayton Price Sr. and the late Willie Mae Simpson Price Rushing, he was also preceded in death by a daughter: Bethany Lynn Price. Jordan Kenneth Salo, 24, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012. He was born in Erie County, PA, October 1, 1988, son to Dale Michael Salo and Kelli Maryott Manczka.
Jordan was a graduate of Sun Valley High School as well as UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology degree.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Saturday, January 5, 2013 in Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe NC, 28112. The family will receive friends following the service.
