Florence Jean Robinson Craig, 66 of Monroe, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Memorial Service will be held 1pm Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Central United Methodist Church, 801 S. Hayne St., Monroe,NC with Visitation at 12 noon prior to the Service.
Born in Union County December 8, 1946 a daughter of the late Othar Wynn and Mary Elizabeth Robinson Wynn. She was a retired Corrections Officer and Married to the late Nathan "Nate" Craig.
She leaves to cherish fond loving memories; two daughters; Paris Craig of Monroe, NC and Carolyn Craig of Pineville, NC two sons; Nathan Craig of Monroe, NC and Rodney "Moonie" Craig of Charlotte, NC one brother; Othar Wynn, (Mary) of Polkton, NC; 16 Grandchildren and a host of Great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Julius Cuthbertson 58, of Monroe died Tuesday January 15 at his residence.
Memorial service will be 11 Monday Jan. 21 at Word of God Mission Church, 1717 East Park St Monroe with burial Thursday Jan., 24 in the National Cemetery Salisbury, N.C.
Visitation is Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at L.D. Grier Funeral Chapel.

Ronald Fenn, 73, of Waxhaw, died January 17, 2013, at his home.
Ron will be cremated at Heritage Funeral Home in Indian Trail. A life celebration and memorial service will be held at the Union United Methodist Church on Monday January 21 at 11 a.m.

Shirley R. Rains, 69, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Good Shepherd Funeral Home, Indian Trail.
Harley Eugene Threatt, 67, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at The Brian Center in Monroe.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 6525 Old Monroe Road, Indian Trail. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Evelyn Dare Starnes Twitty, 104, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at Lake Park Nursing Center. She was born in Union County on April 3, 1908, daughter of the late Thomas Eli Drake and Ida Cunnup Starnes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyet Avery Twitty, Sr., after whom Lake Twitty was named. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Jane Twitty; brothers, Willis Starnes, Richard Starnes, Drake Starnes, Brinkman Starnes; and sisters, Flonnie Secrest and Sallie Mae Carter.
Mrs. Twitty was a founding member of Mary Elizabeth Baptist Church. She served faithfully in several Baptist churches as piano player and Sunday School teacher. She received a certificate for 50 years with the Women’s Missionary Union and played piano for 9 years ministering at Guardian Care Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Oakland Baptist Church. The family will visit with friends and relatives beginning at 1:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Twitty is survived by her son, Boyet Avery Twitty, Jr. (Lynn) of Waxhaw; daughter, Edith Long (Bill, deceased) of Indian Trail; grandchildren, Donna Navey (Rodney), Lisa Taylor (Warren), Allison Batson (Mark), Rhonda Stewart (Glenn) and Todd Twitty (Debra); great-grandchildren, Josh, Mark, Jacob and Gloria Navey, Jessica and William Taylor, Bristol, Brody and Braylen Batson, Sarah, Abigail, Jonathan, David and Hannah Stewart; step-great-grandchildren, Devane and DJ Rushing; and great-great-grandchildren, Levi and Eli Navey.

Nathalee Gay Walkup
Nathalee Gay Walkup, 94, died on January 16, 2013, in Dunwoody, Ga.
Born on December 25, 1918, in Union County, N.C., she was the daughter of Lee A. and Bright Melton Gay. A graduate of Prospect High School, she was a star on the girls’ basketball team. She lived most of her life in Lancaster, S.C., where she worked as an administrative assistant in the medical department at the Lancaster Plant of Springs Mills. She was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Pokorny, of Mount Dora, Fla.; a son, Ted Walkup, and his wife, Renee, of Dunwoody; two granddaughters, Leigh Blakeley, and her husband Robert, of Mount Dora, and Rachel Walkup, of Dunwoody; and three great-grandchildren, Victoria McMullen, John Blakeley, and McKenleigh Blakeley, all of Mount Dora.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brice Wilson Walkup, of Lancaster; three sisters, Genolia Martin, of Wingate, N.C., Guilia Burgess, of Greenville, N.C.,and Dixie Blythe, of Monroe, N.C.; and one brother, Perry Smith Gay, of Tampa, Fla.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, at the North Atlanta Memorial Park in Dunwoody. The Rev. Doug Baker will officiate. Sign online guestbook at www.fischerfuneralcare.com.
