Ralph Williams, Gastonia
Ralph Kemp Williams, age 89, went to be with his Lord on June 18, 2013.
A native of Monroe, he was the son of the late John Lester and Bryte Mary Anne Bass Williams.
He was a graduate of Monroe High School and earned his bachelor and masters degrees from Western Carolina University, where he lettered in tennis and cheerleading. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and First ARP Church. Mr. Williams was a guidance counselor for the Gaston County School System and retired after 30 years.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at First ARP Church with the Rev. Matt Kuiken officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
Survivors include his daughters and sons in law Margaret W. and David Crot of Chesapeake, Va., Lynn W. and Michael Haubert of Mt. Holly; grandchildren, Elizabeth C. Crot, Rebekah L. Crot, John L. Crot and Lauren F. Haubert; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin “Blackie” and Nancy Williams of Monroe; sister in law, Daphne Carson and her family; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sadie Carson Williams, and his brother, John L. Williams, Jr.
