Olin V. Rape
With sad hearts the family of Olin V. Rape of Myrtle Beach announces his passing on July 10, 2013 at Conway Medical Center.
Mr. Rape was bornon July 18, 1922, in Monroe to Dewitt and Wilma Rape. He served in the Army during World War II and was extremely proud of his military service as well as that of being an Omar Shriner.
"Ode," as he was commonly called, worked for many years as a Superintendent for Myers & Chapman Construction Co. in Charlotte. throughout the many enjoyable years he lived he was involved in various activities and adventures. Whether it was traveling for bowling tournaments or on the golf course, he never met a stranger.
For a man who was considered bigger than life, he is survived by his sons, Kevin Rape of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Olin V. Rape Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; three daughters, Gayle Eury and husband Richard of Holden Beach, Terry Davis of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jennifer Rape of Simpsonville, S.C.; five grandchildren, Sarah Jones of Simpsonville, S.C., Nikki Davis of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Kelly Jackson and husband Marcus of Myrtle Beach, Brian Poole and wife Rochelle of Monroe, Cristina Poole of Wingate; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Julia Poole of Monroe; and two wonderful and loving friends who are considered family, Pam Elliott and John Goodart of Myrtle Beach.
Cremation services will be completed by Myrtle Beach Funeral Home.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Mercy Care, 8216 Devon Court, Myrtle Beach, S.C., 29572.
The family wishes to thank everyone with Mercy Care as well as the nurses in the Medical Unit at Conway Medical Center for their compassion and assistance during his stay.
