Col. James Bryant
Retired Col. James Carlisle Bryant, 80, of Monroe died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at Highland Park Baptist Church, 6211 Murray Dr. Hanahan, SC 29410 with a military graveside service to follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Gordon Funeral Service.




Luella Hunt
Mrs. Luella Claudia Hunt, age 75, of Waxhaw, N.C., passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Luella Hunt will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC 28112. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Weddington, N.C.
Mrs. Hunt was born on October 15, 1937, in Drayton Plains, Mich., a daughter of the late Wallace Bell and Evelyn Beach Bell.
'Lou' enjoyed being a homemaker and also worked as an executive secretary. She was full of love and easily made friends everywhere she lived. From playing cards to gathering a crowd together just for fun, Luella was known for her tremendous friendships. She will be missed the most by those that knew her best.
Luella is survived by her loving and dedicated husband James 'Jim' Hunt of the home; a son, Mark Jerome Hunt of the home; and her sister, Phyllis Scholtes and husband, Bill, of Villages, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, February 20, 2013 at Davis Funeral Home in Monroe, N.C.

Dale A. Terry, 77, of Monroe, N.C., passed away Monday, February 18, 2013.
Born in Delaware, Ohio, he was a winter resident of Leesburg, Fla. since 2000. He was a restaurant manager and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Dale is survived by his five sons, Matt Terry of West Milton, Ohio, Chris Terry of Monroe, N.C., Tom Terry of Algonac, Mich., Gene Terry of Laura, Ohio and Jake Terry of Laura, Ohio; two daughters, Nancy Brookbank of Monroe, N.C. and Jill E. Campbell, Vero Beach, Fla.; loving companion, Kathleen Campbell of Monroe, N.C.; two brothers, Vinal Terry of Marengo, Ohio and Don Terry of Surfside, S.C.; two sisters, Esther Pierce of Leesburg, Fla. and Sandy Eckman of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Karen Walker
Karen Hoyle Walker, 52, of Waxhaw, N.C. passed away Friday, February, 15, 2013 at Carolina Medical Center in Monroe, N.C.
Karen was born in Catawba County and is the daughter of Everette Bryant and Phyllis Haas Bryant of Lenoir.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, John S. Walker Jr. of the home; daughters, Anna Hoyle of Lenoir and Allison Story and husband, Jeremy, of Lenoir; step-son, John Allen Walker of Bowling Green, Ky.; sisters, Renee Clark of Hertford, N.C., Lynn Lail of Hudson, Jennifer Fisher of Lenoir and Andrea Bryant of Germany; and a granddaughter, Ava Walker of Bowling Green, Ky.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Hawkins officiating. Receiving of friends will be an hour prior to the service.
The family requests that memorials be made to New Life Baptist Church Children’s Ministry at 2111 Walt Arney Rd. Lenoir, NC 28645.
