Ronnie Lee Allen
Services for Ronnie Lee "Scar" Allen, 58, of Monroe will be Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Bennie Blakely Jr. Memoerial Chapel.
Public viewing will be Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 from noon to 7 p.m. at Richmond Funeral Home of Monroe.
Lula Mae Lovett Herring, 79, died Friday, February 22, 2013.
Lula was born in Bladen County, N.C., December 11, 1933 daughter of the late Norman and Irene McClain Lovett. Mrs. Herring was also preceded in death by her husband Elray Herring. Lula loved her church, gardening and flowers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Unionville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
Mrs. Herring is survived by three sons, Donald Ray Herring and wife Diana of Troy, NC, Steve Edward Herring and wife Kimberly of Mooresville, N.C. and Mark Allen Herring and wife Susan of Monroe, N.C.; sisters Christine Freeman and Arbutis Freeman of Bladenboro, N.C.; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 3 until 5p.m. at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.

Frankie Aldridge Hinson, age 71, of Indian Trail, passed quietly in her home on Saturday, February 23, 2013 after a courageous and valiant 26 year battle with cancer. She was a graceful lady who spent her life in the service of others and impacting all those who knew her. She was born in Union County to the late G.B. and Willie Aldridge. She was also preceded in death by two brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Tommy Hinson; one son: Todd Hinson; one daughter: Crystal (Mark) Cliff; three grandchildren: Zachary, Jenna, and Jordan Hinson; three sisters, three brothers and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home Indian Trail Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11AM until 1:45PM on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the funeral home. In memory of Frankie, the family requests wearing the colors of Pink or Purple to the services. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.

Maj. Jay Warren Medlin
Maj. Jay Warren Medlin, formerly of Monroe, died Monday, February 11, 2013, at his home in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Graveside service with full military honors was conducted at 11 a.m. Feb. 15 at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma,
Maj. Medlin was born on April 1, 1934 in Monroe to R. Clifford and Macie (Kiker) Medlin. He graduated from Unionville School, He entered the Army shortly after graduation and met Christina Bullert, who became his wife, while stationed in Germany.
Maj. Medlin served over 20 years in the Army as a field artillery officer and with intelligence. During his two tours of duty in Vietnam, he was awarded three Bronze Star Medals, the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Air Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and numerous additional commendations, medals and decorations.
Maj. Medlin retired from the Army in 1973 while stationed at Fort Sill. He was then employed by the Civil Service on Post and worked an additional 28 years before he retired in 2002. He enjoyed reading and quiet time with his family.
Maj. Medlin was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Medlin, and wife of 55 years, Christina.
He is survived by his daughter, Corina Meehan and husband William of Elgin; grandson, Jay Everett Medlin of the home; his mother, Macie Medlin of Monroe, N.C; brothers, Nathan Medlin and wife Cathryn, and Zack Medlin and wife Judy, both of Monroe, N.C.
Funeral service for Miss Cynthia White, 51, of Peachland, will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2 p.m. at New Meltonville Baptist Church in Peachland.
Burial will be in the church cemetery
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church. Public viewing will be Monday, February 25, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Bennie Blakely Jr. Memorial Chapel at Richmond Funeral Home, 714 East Franklin St., Monroe, N.C.
