Stokes Huntley
Stokes Niven Huntley, 91, decorated World War II combat veteran, of Houston, died February 26, 2013.
During the war, he flew 50 bombing missions in B-17’s over Germany, Austria, France and the Balkans.  He was born February 24, 1922 in Monroe, N.C. to the late Millard H. and Ethel Huntley.  He was a 1949 graduate of N.C. State University.  His work career spanned three decades in the petro-chemical industry as a control systems engineer.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, June; his son, Bruce; and his brothers, Wilbert, James and Marvin.  He is survived by his daughter, Susan H. Dube and her husband Roland; two grandchildren, Ryan Dube and Gretchen Dube and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10 a.m., at the Pat H. Foley Funeral Home, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, Texas, with interment to follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.


Christine Ritch
Christine Vanese Null Ritch, 57, of Indian Trail died Feb. 26, 2013.
Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Robert "Maxwell" Smart
Mr. Robert Earl 'Maxwell' Smart, age 66, of Monroe, N.C., passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Hospice of Union County in Monroe, N.C.
A celebration of  life for Mr. Maxwell Smart will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at The Eazy Parrot 1701 East Franklin St., Monroe, NC 28112.
Mr. Smart was born on April 16, 1946, in Detroit, Mich., a son of the late William Smart and Anita Keptner Smart.
He was a retired communication and telephone lineman. Maxwell loved NASCAR racing and was a devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kathleen 'Kathy' Smart of the home; two brothers, William David Smart and Clements Smart; three sisters, Sheila Powers, Julie Campbell, and Josephine Campbell; stepson,Dennis Torella and wife Kathy of Waxhaw, N.C.; three grandchildren, Samantha, Jessica, and Anthony Torella; and his great grandson, Aiden Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Maxwell's name to Hospice of Union County.

James Starnes Jr.
James Reid Starnes, Jr, 41, of Lancaster, S.C. passed away on Feb. 26, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Mary Elizabeth Baptist Church in Waxhaw. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m.  Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are are being handled by Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel.

Jacob Webb
Mr. Jacob Scott Webb, 22, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in Clemson, S.C.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro with the Rev. Larry King officiating. Interment will be in Morven Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Jacob was born December 22, 1990 in Westerville, Ohio, the only child of Alan Scott Webb and Sara Lynne Steagall Webb. He was currently an engineering major at Clemson University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
While in high school, he played both football and baseball and his hobbies included fishing, golf and boating.
A loving and devoted son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, he is survived by his parents, Scott and Sara Webb of the home; his grandparents, Martha Steagall of Morven and Joan and Jim Griffin of Marshville, and his aunts and uncles, Anne and Ron Purcell and Allen and Susie Steagall all of Monroe, Jeanne Price of Charlotte, Andy and Charlene Webb of North Wilkesboro, Amee Webb of Marshville, Lisa Webb of Clearwater, Fla., Bart Griffin of Indian Trail and Betsy Griffin of Minneapolis, Minn.  He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Mickey Steagall and Troy A. Webb.
