Mrs. Glady Birmingham Broadaway of Monroe N.C., died September 10, 2013.
Born April 1, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Leroy A. and Jennie Moore Birmingham of New Salem, Union County. She married T. Curtis Broadaway in April 1942 and was blessed with three sons: Thomas Sherrill and wife Diane of Selma NC; Allen Lee of Charlotte, NC; and Dennis Joe and wife Donna of Monroe NC. Glady was predeceased by her husband Curtis and son Sherrill, one sister and two brothers.
Survivors include her sons Allen and Dennis; her grandchildren; Sherrill Jr. (Carol), Greg (Hilary), Kevin (Cindy) and Jeff Broadaway and Lindsey Broadaway Kipke (Michael) ; her step-grandchildren: Chad (Kristin) and Scott Strawn; her great-grandchildren: Alston, Matthew, Derek and Sydney Broadaway; her step great-grandchildren: Brett Logan (Roseann), Mitchell Weaver, Evan, Emmarie, Gavin, Landyn and Reagan Strawn: and her great-great-grandchildren: Alex, Zack and Jake Logan. Also surviving are her brother Roy Birmingham of Belmont NC, and two sisters, Shelby Jean Brown of Gainesville, FL and Margaret Bartlett of Chicago, IL.
Glady loved serving the Lord, she was proud to be a charter member of Morgan Mill Road Baptist Church, and more recently a member of Lakeview Baptist, active in the Ruth Ladies’ class and the senior group.
She was the former owner and operator of Park Terrace Nursery and Kindergarten in Monroe. Later in life she enjoyed traveling the country with her friends (made it to every state except Colorado). Above all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved the Lord and her family.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, September 12, 2013 from six until eight PM at Lakeview Baptist Church, Services to celebrate the life of Glady will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 13, 2013 at Lakeview Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Jirgal officiating, interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park, beside her husband.
