Warren Carter Plyler, Sr.
Warren Carter Plyler, Sr., 81, died Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Warren was born in Union County, N.C. May 26, 1931 son of the late Otho Frank and Blanche Carter Plyler.
Mr. Plyler was a veteran in the US Army serving as a corporal in the Korean Conflict, a charter member and retired Chief of the Waxhaw Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, a special deputy with the Union County Sheriff’s Department, a lifelong member of the Waxhaw United Methodist Church and he especially enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching his grandchildren play softball and basketball.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:30 AM in the Waxhaw Southside Cemetery. The family received friends immediately following the graveside services at Waxhaw United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall, 200 McDonald St., Waxhaw, NC 28173.
Warren is survived by his wife of 56 years O’Neil Lemonds Plyler; sons Warren Carter Plyler, Jr. and wife Christie and Joseph “Joe” Plyler both of Waxhaw; daughters Marion Plyler Morton and husband Dennis of Waxhaw and Mary Elizabeth Plyler of Monroe, NC; brothers Otho Frank Plyler, Jr. and wife Cornelia of Garner, NC, Perry P. Plyler and wife Lois of Chesapeake, VA, Tom Plyler and wife June of Waxhaw; grandchildren Casey, Laura and Emily Morton and Christopher and Amy Plyler.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
