The Enquirer-Journal traces its roots back to the Monroe Enquirer, first published on May 27, 1873, and the Monroe Journal, first published in 1894. The two newspapers were merged on November 22, 1965. The Enquirer-Journal is the
oldest continually operating business in Union County, NC, the state’s fastestgrowing county.
The only daily newspaper published in Union County, The Enquirer-Journal is distributed throughout Union County Tuesday through Sunday mornings. The online version, www.enquirerjournal.com, is updated continuously as news
occurs. Print and online subscriptions are available.
Companion publications of The Enquirer-Journal are two weekly newspapers, The Indian Trail Trader and The Waxhaw Exchange, which focus entirely on local news and information for the communities they serve.
The Indian Trail Trader is distributed each Wednesday in the fast-growing Indian Trail, Lake Park and Stallings communities in western Union County and is available online at www.indiantrailtrader.com.
The Waxhaw Exchange is delivered on Sundays in the high-growth western Union County communities of Marvin, Waxhaw, Weddington and Wesley Chapel and is available online at www.waxhawexchange.com.
The three publications comprise Union County’s largest community newspaper network, reaching more than 57,000 readers each week in print. Additionally our Web site receives more than 31,000 visits per month. Combined, our print and online publications represent the largest newspaper marketing footprint in Union County.
The Enquirer-Journal is also a web offset printer with a commercial printing division.
The Enquirer-Journal and its companion publications are owned by Paxton Media Group, headquartered in Paducah, KY. The company publishes 32 daily newspapers. Our media partners in North Carolina and eastern Tennessee are:
The (Henderson) Daily Dispatch, The (Durham) Herald-Sun, The Sanford Herald, The High Point Enterprise, The (Lenoir) News-Topic, The (Forest City) Daily Courier and The (Sevierville) Mountain Press.
