William Ashcraft Jr.

MONROE — William Heath “Tip” Ashcraft Jr., 47, died Saturday (Nov. 7, 2009) at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Born April 8, 1962, in Chesterfield County, S.C., he was a son of Burnette Belk Ashcraft of Asheboro and the late William Heath Ashcraft Sr.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Angela Bullock Ashcraft of the home; a brother, Billy Wayne Posey of Concord; and two sisters, Tammy Ashcraft Brown of Charlotte and Jackie Ashcraft of Monroe.

Public viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Harris Funeral Home.

Rae Haynes

CHARLOTTE — Rachel “Rae” Haynes, 77, died Saturday (Nov. 7, 2009).

Memorial service will be 1 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home of Indian Trail.

Born July 6, 1932, in Taylorsville, she was a daughter of the late R.B. and Blanche Huffman and was married to the late Doug McGee and to the late Gene Haynes. She was retired from AT&T as a computer operator.

Survivors include two daughters, Pam Smith, Lisa McGee, both of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ethan Isaman

WAXHAW — Mr. Ethan George Isaman, 21, died Sunday, November 8, 2009, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, Indian Trail. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Isaman was born April 26, 1988, in Olean, N.Y., and was the son of Jeffrey L. Isaman of Waxhaw and the late Penny Blue Isaman.

In addition to his father, Ethan is survived by his daughter, Skye Isaman of the home; sister, Paige Isaman of Waxhaw; stepsister, Tara Patterson of Waxhaw; paternal grandparents, George Paugh of Mineral Springs and Karen Andrews of Couder Sport, Pa.; and fiancee, Karla Patterson of Waxhaw.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 6525 Old Monroe Rd., Indian Trail, NC 28079, to assist with expenses.

HUNTERSVILLE — Denise Michelle Jones, 37, died Monday (Nov. 9, 2009) at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Robin Kirby Jr.

CHARLOTTE — Robin Smith Kirby Jr., 84, died Tuesday (Nov. 10, 2009) at Sharon Towers.

Burial will be private in Sharon Memorial Park.

Born Jan. 14, 1925, in Charlotte, he was a son of the late Robin and Nancy Porter Kirby and was married to the late Jane Ferree Kirby. He was a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Gilbert Kirby; one sister, Nancy K. West; two daughters, Jane K. Arnold, Anne K. Ricker; one son, Robin S. Kirby III; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Sharon Towers’ Hunter Hall.

Ocie Schrappe

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Ocie Lee Mills Schrappe, 80, formerly of Pageland, S.C., died Monday (Nov. 9, 2009).

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church cemetery.

Born Aug. 29, 1929, she was a daughter of the late James and Netty Rayfield Mills. She was a Sunday school teacher at Kempsville Baptist Church in Virginia Beach and worked at Virginia Beach City Treasurers Office. She was a selfless and loving wife, mother and humble in Christ.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Charles (Carpenter) Schrappe of Virginia Beach; daughters, Suzanne Davis of North Ridge, Calif., and Barbara Vogt of Spyglass, N.C.; brother, James Mills of Pageland, S.C.; sisters, Claire Underwood of Monroe, N.C., and Lucy Whitenack of New Port News, Va.; and grandson, Charles Vogt of Marlton, N.J.

MONROE — Katharina Helene Siegel Trinker, 70, died Tuesday (Nov. 10, 2009) at home.

She was retired from IBM as a technician.

Ralph P. Williams

MONROE — Mr. Ralph P. Williams, 88, died peacefully on Monday, November 9, 2009, at Carolina Medical Center-Union.

Mr. Williams was born October 26, 1921, in Union County, where he has been a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late James Gore and Miranda Fowler Williams. He was retired from Williams Septic Tank and Concrete, which he and Ernest Long founded in 1963.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ralph will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at Benton Heights Presbyterian Church with his pastor Reverend Paul Saleeby officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family received friends Tuesday evening at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe.

Ralph was a member of Benton Heights Presbyterian Church, a member of the BHPC Men’s fellowship, the Building Committee, a member of the Session and the Shema Sunday school class. Survivors include his children, Brenda W. Evans and partner Ron Hall of Charlotte, N.C., Michael E. Williams and friend Mary Frawley, Paula W. Crook and husband Mitchell, all of Monroe N.C.; daughter-in-law, Carol Williams of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Kim E. Lucas and husband Brad of Weddington, Sheri E. Vaughan and husband Gene of Monroe, Russell P. Williams and wife Fielding of Charlotte, Jeffery A. Williams and wife Amy of Matthews, Greg Crook and wife Sharon, Mandy Crook and fiance Jake Jefferies, Chris Crook and wife Jaycie, all of Monroe; fourteen great-grandchildren: Tyler Vaughan of Boone, Garrett Vaughan, Carlie Crook, Emmie Crook, Corbin Crook, Sara Zingg, Kayla Zingg, Lauren Zingg and Nikki Crook, all of Monroe, Lydia Lucas of Weddington, Sydney Williams of Matthews, Riley, Jex and Hoyt Williams of Charlotte.

Ralph was preceded in death by the love of his life, Thelma; they were married sixty-three years. They also lost a son, Richard P. Williams, in 1990.

Ralph was the last surviving child of the seven born to “Papa Jim and Ma Ma Randy” as they were so loving called by their family. His brothers were Earl, Parks and Pete, his sisters were Geraldine, Kate and Hilda. He also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Hazel Williams and Nell Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews, Ralph also shared his days with his faithful dog Sammie and caregivers Valerie Hammonds, Lavonne Patton and Deborah and Wayne Marsh.

Much love and many thanks to all of you for making him laugh. The family requests that memorials be made to Benton Heights Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2701 Concord Hwy., Monroe NC 28110. McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service of Monroe is serving the family of Mr. Williams.
