Shirley Ann Mumpower Carder

MONROE — Ms. Carder, 70, of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2009.

Shirley, a native of Mecklenburg County, was born September 26, 1939. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Andrew Mumpower and Lillie Mae Hedrick Mumpower.

Always smiling and willing to help anyone, she was an adored mother and grandmother who loved to cook and dance. Shirley continued to work until just a few years ago and retired from Wal-Mart of Monroe after 20 years. Shirley was loved by her many customers and co-workers in the garden center. Shirley had a heart of gold and held a special place in her heart for her animals.

Graveside services to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, November 17th at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens with Reverend Gene Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, November 16th from 7-9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Geaneice Cox and Joanne Nofziger; sons, William “Bill” Carder (Pat), Edward Carder (Connie) and Richard Carder (Christy); sister Linda Hill (Jim); brothers Dennis Mumpower (Carolyn) and Jerry Mumpower (Millie); lifelong friend and soul mate, William V. Carder; best friend and cousin, Sylvia Porter; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved pets, Megan, Molly, and Sheba.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mylee Griffin

MONROE — Baby girl Mylee Sue Griffin, infant daughter of Richard Glenn Griffin and Monica Leigh Baucom Griffin of Monroe, went with the angels to heaven late Wednesday afternoon, November 11, 2009, from Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Survivors include her parents, (two) sisters: Regan Griffin and Macie Griffin and (one) brother: Wriston Griffin all of the home; maternal grandparents: Frank and Gale Baucom of Monroe;

maternal great-grandmother: Mrs. Louise Rushing of Monroe;

paternal grandparents: Bobby and Judy Griffin of Mint Hill, N.C.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon (November 15, 2009) at the Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Brent Carpenter.

The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation after the service in the Shiloh Advent Christian Church fellowship hall.

Wilma Henderson

INDIAN TRAIL — Wilma Henderson, 86, died Nov. 4, 2009, at home.

Funeral will be 7 p.m. today at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.

She was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Greenville. She was a retired licensed practical nurse.

Survivors include one son, James A. Johnson of Columbus, Ga.; one daughter, Wilma Jean Johnson of Bronx, N.Y.; one sister, Elva Hodge of Bronx; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will follow the service.

Pete Santos

STALLINGS — Pedro “Pete” Oliveros Santos, 69, died Tuesday (Nov. 10, 2009).

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Matthews Catholic Church.

Born April 27, 1940, he was a son of the late Juan and Maria Santos. He was retired as an accountant from Aetna.

Survivors include his wife, Concepcion Santos of the home; three sons, Philip Santos of Manchester, Conn., Patrick Santos, Paul Santos, both of Somerville, Mass.; one brother, George Santos of the Philippines; and one sister, Eufronsina Nepomuceno of the Philippines.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home of Indian Trail.
