Ray B. Cutler

PEACHLAND -- Ray B. Cutler, 57, of Peachland died Monday, October 19, 2009, at Hunterwood Nursing and Rehabilitation.

No services are planned.

Born June 10, 1952 in Patterson, N.J., he was a son of the late Donald Cutler and the late Kay Lewis Cutler.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia M. Cutler of Peachland; a son, Ray B. Cutler Jr. of Unionville; two daughters, Virginia Stewart of Kansas and Elizabeth Cutler of Peachland; four brothers, Donald Cutler and Charles Kay, both of New York, Richie Cutler of Florida and Tedd Cutler of Ohio,; two daughters, Lenore Lewis of New York and Laurie Cutler of Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Morgan and Son Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Jeff P. Dixon

MONROE - Jeff Powell Dixon, 81, died Monday, October 19, 2009.

He was born in Roxboro, N.C. on September 22, 1928 son of the late Andrew and Pauline Neal Walker Dixon.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 23, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry Thomas Dixon, Andrew Jackson Dixon, Jr and Heber Jackson Dixon. He is survived by sons, David Dixon of Charlotte, Donald R. Dixon of Monroe and Doug Dixon of Hemby Bridge, daughter, Doris Ann Hugo of Littleton, Colorado, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gordon Funeral & Cremation Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC.

Jesse Allen Duke

SEBRING, Fla.

Jesse Allen Duke, 65, of Sebring, Florida, formerly of Indian Trail, N.C., passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009. He was born in White Bluff, Tennessee on March 30, 1944 son of the late Allie Bowman and Ruby Odell Gentry Duke. Mr. Duke was a U S Army Vietnam veteran and retired from Schrader Automotive after 41 years of service.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Gordon Funeral & Cremation Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Duke is survived by his wife, Pamela D. Duke, son, Justin Duke of White Bluff, TN, daughters, Sheila Crunkleton and husband, Roy, Misty McClellan and husband George, Tracy Tripodi and husband Scott, all of Monroe, Gina Jones and husband Joe of Franklin, TN, brother, Jerry Duke and wife Deborah of White Bluff, TN, grandchildren, Steven Crunkleton, Wil Jones, Hayden Jones, Nick Riggins and Andrew McClellan. Jesse loved golfing, traveling and especially spending time with his beloved grandsons, family and friends.

William Long

INDIAN TRAIL - William “Bill” Thomas Long, 74, went to be with Jesus, Monday, October 19, 2009. He was born June 3, 1935 in Jacksonville, Florida son of the late Dewey and Mary Long of Indian Trail. Mr. Long served in the U.S. Army in Germany with the 55th Engineering Co from1957 until 1960. He was employed by Bowie Ford for 17 years, then owned and operated Longs Auto Repair for 25 years. He was a godly husband and father. He was devoted to his Lord, his family, his friends and playing Southern Gospel Music.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 at Gordon Funeral Service of Monroe. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 23, 2009 at 2:30 at Sardis Baptist Church of Indian Trail. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 47 years, Edith Twitty Long, his devoted daughters, Donna Navey and husband Rodney, of Greensboro, Lisa Taylor and husband Warren, of Indian Trail, Rhonda Stewart and husband Glenn, missionaries to Southeast Asia, his beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Mark, Jacob and Gloria Navey, Jessica and William Taylor, Sarah, Abigail and Jonathan Stewart, brother, Garrison Long (Doris), sisters, Ruth L. Inman (Sam), and Evelyn Ray. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dowd Long.
