Holiday performances planned at schools
Cuthbertson Middle, High
The Cuthbertson Middle School sixth- and seventh-grade bands will perform Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. in the pit. The eighth-grade and high school bands will per will perform Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Admission to both events is free.
East Union Middle
The East Union Middle School band and chorus concert will be Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.
Hemby Bridge Elementary
The Hemby Bridge Elementary third grade students and chorus will present “’Twas the Night Before ... ,” a holiday performance that includes audience sing-a-long on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Porter Ridge High School auditorium. The program centers around Clement C. Moore’s “’Twas The Night Before Christmas” and also features other musical numbers that highlight peace and other winter celebrations. Admission is free.
Marshville Elementary
Marshville Elementary School’s chorus will perform Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Marvin Ridge High
The Marvin Ridge High School choral arts students will present “In Dulci Jubilo” (“In Sweet Rejoicing”) today at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. Admission is free.
Marvin Ridge Middle
Marvin Ridge Middle School will present “My Favorite Time Of Year” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the school. Tickets are $3 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. Billy Walbam’s favorite time of year is the Christmas holiday. Except this year, things are different. With his parents separated and his friends pushing different holidays in his face, Billy ends up hating the holiday season. Though Billy seems to lose hope, he sees in the end that family and friends are the most important part of the holidays, no matter what.
Monroe High, Middle schools
Concerts at Monroe High School will feature students from Monroe High and Middle schools. The choral concert will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 10 and the band concert will be Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.
New Town Elementary
New Town Elementary’s holiday program will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Performers will include the second- and third-gradee Recorder Ensemble, the fourth- and fifth-grade Orff Ensemble and the fourth- and fifth-grade chorus. The groups will perform separately and together.
Parkwood Middle
Parkwood Middle School’s band concert will be Friday at 7 p.m. in the Parkwood High School auditorium. The chorus concert will be Friday at 7 p.m. in the Parkwood Middle gym.
Piedmont High
The Piedmont High School Women’s Ensemble will present its annual holiday concert Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Also performing will be the Piedmont Middle School choir; Piedmont Voices, Siler Presbyterian Children’s Choir; The Al-le-lu-ia Company and Stallings United Methodist youth handbell choir; and reBellious. Tickets are $5. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Call 704-753-2810 for more information.
Porter Ridge Middle
The Porter Ridge Singing Pirates will have their holiday concert on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. in the school’s pit area. Admission is free.
Sun Valley High
The Sun Valley High School Jazz and Concert bands will present their annual winter concert Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Admission is free.
Weddington Middle
Weddington Middle School’s chorus concert will be Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at Weddington High School. The eighth-grade band concert will be Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. at the high school and the sixth- and seventh-grade band concert will be Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at the middle school.
