MONROE — The Union County Health Department has scheduled four H1N1 flu shot clinics and one seasonal flu shot clinic in the upcoming weeks.

The first H1N1 flu shot clinic will be Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Health Department, 1224 W. Roosevelt Blvd. This clinic is by appointment only and for anyone 18 years of age or older desiring an H1N1 vaccination.

The second H1N1 flu shot clinic will be Dec. 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rocky River Elementary School. This is a walk-in clinic for anyone of any age desiring an H1N1 vaccination.

The Health Department will provide H1N1 vaccines for children up to 9 years old on Nov. 30 and Dec. 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Health Department, by appointment only. These clinics are only for children who need their second dose of the H1N1 vaccine. Parents should bring vaccine records to the clinics.

There must be 28 days between the first and second H1N1 vaccines. If a child received his or her first vaccine at the Health Department clinic on Oct. 24, they can come to the Nov. 30 clinic. If they received their first vaccine at Piedmont High School on Nov. 14, they can come to the Dec. 14 clinic.

A walk-in seasonal flu shot clinic for school-age children will be Dec. 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Health Department.

All flu shots are free. For more information or to make appointments, call the Union County Health Department at 704-296-4800.
