We would like to commend Lynda Paxton for a dignified and issue-driven campaign for Mayor of Stallings.

In these troubled, economic times we – the voters and citizens of Stallings – have no appetite for acrimony or empty promises. Nor do we want to move backwards with provincial thinking, ever-increasing taxes and petty, town hall politics. We are all effected by the Monroe By-Pass, the Chestnut Connector, the need for more sewer and water access, the impact of unchecked development, and the increasing cost of town services, among the myriad of issues that directly impact our quality of life.

Mayor Paxton understands that, first and foremost, Stallings must remain a fine place to live – a place where our kids can grow up and where we can grow old. Where lovely neighborhoods and safe streets are the envy of other towns. Where healthy, green space is just as important as sound businesses for a solid future. And, where local government acts responsibly and transparently.

Lynda also understands that the Mayor and all public officials are accountable to the citizens of Stallings. Those, who have unjustifiably attacked her, foolishly ignore the fact that Lynda Paxton’s honesty, civility, hard work and accessibility underscore her respect for us - the citizens of Stallings, the taxpayers and the voters who elected her.

We are impressed that Mayor Paxton is committed to the community’s greater good and is not beholden to special interests. We are grateful that she has not been afraid to stand up and ask the necessary questions on our behalf. And, we are fortunate for the relationships she has forged with other area leaders, as well as those on the state and national level.

Mayor Paxton’s record speaks for itself. Candidates who, themselves or through their supporters, disparage that record with misguided, desperate activities - fueled by untruths and threats - do not deserve the electorate’s endorsement. On Election Day we will cast our votes with respect and confidence for Mayor Lynda Paxton and encourage our fellow citizens to do so, too, for a better future and a better Stallings.
