Police sorting out robberies, shootings
A man who was shot in the stomach during what he said was an armed robbery has since been arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police for an outstanding warrant, Monroe police said.
Joshua Marsh, 24, of 706 Edgegreen Drive in Charlotte told police that two men robbed him at gunpoint about 1 a.m. on Boyte Street while he was walking toward McDonald’s.
Just minutes before that, two brothers were robbed at gunpoint by two men, also on Boyte Street, but the robbers scattered when the robbery victims’ father fired a shot at them.
Sanchez Orlando Wiliams, 27, told police that two men wearing masks fled toward English Street about 12:30 a.m. after robbing him and his brother, Quincy Mandez Williams, 26. Their father, Billy Williams, shot at the group with his own gun, and the two men ran in separate directions, according to Monroe Police Lt. Mark Coan.
Marsh was found at 604 English St., one block over from Boyte Street, according to the police report.
“They may be connected, but they were wearing masks so it’s hard to say,” Monroe Police Lt. T.J. Goforth said.
Marsh told police that one of the men who robbed him had a red stocking around his face and the other was wearing a Halloween mask, according to the police report. He told police the two men had guns and one of them fired before they both fled the scene.
Marsh was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he had surgery. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police will take him into custody when he is released.
Marsh’s previous charges include possession of burglary tools, communicating threats, and most recently, on Aug. 19, larceny and breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.
