Today is Election Day
Seventy-four candidates are seeking election in Union County.
Polls will be open today from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. There are 50 locations to vote across the county.
Stallings has the most candidates with nine running for Town Council and four for mayor. Indian Trail and Weddington are next in line with eight candidates each. Wingate has the fewest with two, both incumbents.
Wingate, Indian Trail and Waxhaw are also having liquor-by-the-drink referendums. Residents in those towns can vote for or against the sale of liquor in restaurants and having an ABC store in town.
Election results will be displayed in the Griffin Room of the Union County Public Library, 316 E. Windsor St., beginning at 7:30 p.m. They will also be available on the Board of Elections Web site at www.co.union.nc.us.
