Wingate is tied for 10th place at the Will Wilson/Southeast Regional Preview
Clemmons, N.C.----The Wingate University men’s golf team is tied for 10th after the first day of the Will Wilson/Southeast Regional Preview, hosted by Belmont Abbey at the par-70 Tanglewood Park Golf Club (Championship course). Sixteen teams are participating in this unique event.
Wingate freshman Brian Denton (Wendell, N.C.) is tied for seventh with a two-over-par 72. Classmate Garrett Heffner (Wendell, N.C.) fired a 77, while senior Scott Caragher (Charlotte, N.C.) recorded a 78.
Bulldog sophomore Braden Jackson (Dallas, N.C.) posted an 80, while senior Spencer Percy (Statesville, N.C.) had an 82 Sunday. Only two of 94 players shot sub-par rounds Sunday, as the opening round included temperatures in the mid-40s with 25-30 mile per hour wind gusts.
