Warriors whip Ledford in first round

Weddington High reached double-digit wins for the first time in the football program's 14-year history with Friday's 42-0 home win over Ledford in the first round of the playoffs on Friday.
Seven Warriors scored, and senior QB Jeff Welch threw three touchdown passes.
Ryan Black, Evan Altizer and Jack Ryan each caught a touchdown pass while Oman Boyd and William Corbett scored on the ground.
Weddington's defense outscored Ledford.
Cornerback Mitchel Carson returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, putting his team ahead 21-0.
The seventh-seeded Warriors (10-2) will try to advance past the second round of the playoffs for the first time ever when they travel to second-seeded Asheville High next week.
Asheville (10-2) knocked out Cuthbertson 33-7 in the first round.
