Pirates crush Parkwood by 38 points
Porter Ridge's girls ran their winning streak to six games with an 80-42 home win over Parkwood on Friday.
The victory improves the Pirates to 3-0 in the Southern Carolina Conference and 12-3 overall.
Porter Ridge has now scored 80 points or more in three of its last six games.
Senior guard Jasmine Huntley stood out with a game-high 27 points, and was one of four Pirates to reach double-digit scoring.
Senior forwards Jada Huntley and Jade Jones scored 12 each, and junior post Bobbi Jones added 11.
Jasmine Huntley scored all nine points when the Pirates opened the third quarter with a 9-0 run.
Porter Ridge had 11 steals in the third quarter, nine in the first quarter and 28 for the game — compared to just four steals for the Rebels.
Parkwood took a 3-0 lead, but Porter Ridge responded with a 16-2 run and never looked back.
The Pirates led 39-23 at halftime, and outscored the visitors 43-19 after the break.
Jasmine Huntley had 12 points at halftime, including eight in the first quarter, and Jada Huntley scored nine in the first half.
The Rebels have a 10-3 record overall, but fell to 1-2 in conference play.
Emry Tsitouris, a junior forward, led the Rebels with 20 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Parkwood hosts Sun Valley on Tuesday, while the Pirates have a big matchup against Weddington at home.
NOTE: Jasmine Huntley eclipsed 1,000 career points in the Pirates' 86-24 win over Marvin Ridge on Jan. 8. She became the third player in school history to accomplish the feat. Former star Kelly Godbout was the first to do it, and Jada Huntley reached 1,000 points earlier this season.
